“It is finished.” These are the final words of our Saviour before he gave His last breath. The price for the sins of all mankind had been paid. A worthy offering for an undeserving people. The body of Jesus is wrapped in linen and placed in a tomb, heavily guarded for fear that they would steal his body and claim resurrection. And He did. Christ was crucified on a cross, he died and was buried and on the third day, He arose.
They did not understand
John 20:9: For as yet they did not understand the scripture, that He must rise from the dead.
The disciples had just witnessed their master be crucified for crimes He did not commit. They had heard Jesus forewarn them on his own death and resurrection and the events surrounding His crucifixion (Matthew 26:31-34), but it had not been revealed to them as to how this would occur. We see the disciples flee after the arrest of Jesus in fear of what the Jews might do to them, we can only imagine the silence and uncertainty that encompassed them on this day, for they did not take the LORD at His Word.
He must rise
1 Corinthians 15:14: And if Christ had not been raised from the dead ....our faith would have been in vain.
The resurrection of Jesus is not solely a New Testament doctrine, we see it mentioned in the Old testament as well. The psalmist writes in the 16th Psalm (Psalm 16:10) that: “For You will not abandon my soul to Sheol; Nor will You allow Your Holy One to undergo decay. We cannot state that David knew how this was going to be done but we can rest in the same assurance he rested in. That he would not be confined to the grave for all eternity on account of the Resurrection of the LORD.
The prophet Hosea gives a popular verse in the 13th Chapter of the book; an inquiry into the power that death no longer holds, “O Death....where is your sting?” (Hosea 13:14). By Christ’s resurrection death no longer has any power. We also see from the prophet Isaiah writings in relation to the resurrection, “He will swallow up death for all time. And the LORD God will wipe tears away from all faces.” A beautiful reality for God’s people. The engulfing of death and the eternity that awaits.
Resurrection for all; Eternal life for God’s people
All will be raised from the dead, but not all will possess eternal life. The life guaranteed in Christ is reserved for those who have believed in the LORD. For those who have been crucified and died with him. - 2 Timothy 2:11

Serene Truth Resource was established under Forthwith Records with the goal of equipping men and women with God's Truth, which is the foundation and pillar upon which the church of the living God is built upon.
We want to be intentional about impacting our culture and generations now and after us with the message of the Gospel as the pillar and structure of our conversation calling men and women to repent and believe in our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Being intentional about this message and holdfast to the 2 Timothy 3:16-17 which states “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work,” we desire to be a tool specifically designed to equip believers and ground them in God’s Word through the empowering of the Holy Spirit, resulting in the fruit of service and devotion in our daily lives.
